SynQ Release Notes

Known Problems

In addition to the general known issues in SynQ 2.7, the following problems are known:

  • It has been observed that delegates who manage multiple calendars occasionally encounter fatal COM errors during synchronization. The error messages indicate that certain Microsoft Office Outlook items could not be found. Although the exact cause of this problem has yet to be determined, SynQ includes code designed to minimize the likelihood of item-not-found errors from occurring. During testing, the problem could not be reproduced. This problem was first reported for SynQ 2.6. (41271)
  • At a customer site, a delegate's calendar fails to reflect an update made by another delegate. Additionally, the original but incorrect version of the event reappears after a few days. (41184)

Known Problems With Microsoft Outlook

The following are known problems with Microsoft Outlook, independent of the SynQ add-in:

  • If you use the Options dialog box within Outlook 2000 to switch to another user account, dates corresponding to events from the previous user still display in boldface in the summary calendar—even though no events actually exist. (29235)
  • You must restart Outlook so that the proper attendee status is reflected for an event where you have accepted selected occurrences of a recurring meeting. Specifically, the problem occurs in the following scenario: 1) In Outlook, a user schedules a recurring meeting and invites an attendee; 2) Both the meeting organizer and attendee synchronize; 3) In Outlook, the attendee accepts a single occurrence of the meeting and then synchronizes; 3) In WebCal, attendee accepts another single occurrence of the meeting and then synchronizes. In Outlook, the status for the event accepted via WebCal is "Please respond." If the attendee restarts Outlook, the correct status (accepted) is displayed.(38490)
  • If you add an attendee to a meeting you're currently setting up in Outlook, cancel the invitation, and then save the event, the attendee will still receive an invitation to the event following a synchronization. (37439)
  • In Outlook 2000/2002/2003, a repeating event will disappear from your Microsoft Outlook Calendar when exceptions (that is, modifications) for that event exceed a certain number. For Outlook 2003, the problem occurs at or near 30 exceptions. With Outlook 2000/2002, the problem occurs at or near 60 exceptions.
Workaround: (Outlook 2003 only) Install Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2. (32992)
  • In Outlook 2003 in Internet mode, a duplicate event might be created under the following circumstances:
    • You have the reading pane displayed in Outlook. (To display the reading pane, click View > Reading Pane > Bottom.)
    • In your Outlook Inbox, you double-click a new (i.e., previously unread) meeting invitation.
If you check your Outlook calendar, there might be two instances of the same meeting. (32438)
  • Reminders may disappear from your Outlook calendar. As part of this problem, you will encounter an error message stating that "there was a problem reading one or more of your reminders". Outlook 2003 provides a command-line option (/cleanreminders) to fix this problem. Also, the following URL might provide some helpful information: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;195748. (27327)
  • In Outlook 2000, an event will not be created and an error will occur if you attempt to setup a meeting and invite an external attendee. (36191)
  • If an attendee responds to an emailed meeting invitation, his Attendance status (as displayed on the Attendee Availability tab within the Outlook Meeting window) will not be accurately reflected in the event organizer's calendar. However, the Attendance status will be accurately reflected if the attendee opens the event from his calendar and responds via the Meeting window. This problem occurs if the event organizer is using Outlook 2000.
Workaround: When an organizer using Outlook 2000 receives an attendee's response, the email must be opened (by double-clicking it) in order for the attendee's status to be correctly set. If it is just read in the Outlook preview window, the status will not be updated. (36612)
